Since God's Word is a "lamp to our feet and a light to our path," many different opportunities are available to study the Bible - from small groups to large Sunday morning groups.

SUNDAYS

Adult Bible Study - Sunday: 9:30 AM -10:30AM 
Classes are offered on a wide variety of subjects in the lounge immediately following the fellowship time after the 8AM service (Sept-May) during the children's Sunday school hour. 

Sunday School: All children ages three through eighth grade are welcome to join in praising God and growing in Christian faith each Sunday morning, (Sept-May), at 9:30 AM -10:30AM .  During the summer, VBS is offered. This year "Take the Plunge with Jesus" during VBS week, August 6 - 10 from 9 AM to 11:45 AM.

Youth Bible Study: All High School youth (grades 9-12) are invited to grow in their faith in Sunday mornings to study and discuss a wide variety of topics, 9:30 AM (Sept - May), in the Youth Room downstairs.

MID-WEEK BIBLE STUDY GROUPS

Tuesday:
        7:00 AM - Lil' Chef Restaurant (1616 S. Saginaw Rd.) Topics vary.  For more information contact Chuck Finch.
        2:30 PM  - Womens' Bible study at church led by Mary Kell (Sept. - May) 
Friday:
        7:00 AM - Shirlene's Restaurant, 1716 W. Wackerly Rd. (corner of Eastman and Wackerly) Topics vary.  For more information contact Chuck Finch.

Church Membership Classes - Classes are scheduled periodically for adults interested in the teachings of the Lutheran Church.  Those who attend are not required to join, but the course does prepare for Communicant Membership in the church.

Life-Light - In-depth study of the books of the Bible. Check our bulletin, newsletter, or church calendar for schedule of classes.  Contact Sharon Hartlein, Chuck Finch or Bob Hansen with questions. (offered Wednesdays at 9:30 AM and 7:15 PM)

Small Group Ministries "Faith and Fellowship Groups" - St. John's provides several opportunities to be in God's Word and enjoy Christian fellowship with one another in a small group atmosphere.  The groups of 3-12 people meet regularly with the common purpose of discovering and growing in the abundant life of Christ!

 

Media Center - The Weller Wing (east of the sanctuary): This library houses approximately 500 volumes. Primary subject areas are theological references, children's stories and contemporary Christian writings.  Video and cassette tapes are also available for check out. We also have our lower level Media Center, with many books for young readers, as well as a computer lab.

Confirmation Classes - for children who are normally in grades 6-8, from 6:30-8:00 PM on Thursdays during the school year, to grow in understanding in their relationship to their Lord and to become Communicant members of the Lutheran Church.

Cradle Roll - All children of the congregation, from infancy to age 5, are placed on the cradle roll, and through regular mailings to parents, are remembered by the Church as important members of the Body of Christ.

Vacation Bible School - Each summer, St. John's hosts a vacation bible school.   Bible stories, worship, fun activities and crafts are offered.
